Cylinder Safe Handling
Before using any compressed gas cylinder, you should read and familiarize yourself with all safety precautions. Proper precautions must be taken to avoid serious injury or death. Secure all helium cylinders (in excess of 40 lbs.) with a Safety Wall Bracket, Cylinder Safety Stand or a 4-Wheel Cylinder Hand Truck.
By law, all cylinders holding compressed gases must undergo a process called "hydrostatic testing" every five years. This test certifies that your cylinder is compliant with state safety regulations and protects the employer, employees and customers from a possible rupture in an old tank. Test dates for your tanks will be stamped in the crown of the cylinder. The numbers ill be in this order: Month/Test Facility ID/Year.
Department of Transportation Regulations
1. All cylinders must be identified with a Department of Transportation (DOT) label.
2. A Gas Transportation Document must be in plain view in the driver's compartment while full or partially filled cylinders are being transported.

The U.S. Material Safety Data Sheets - Helium contains important information that you should know before working with any compressed gas cylinder and helium.
- Do not allow anyone to inhale gas. Inhaling gas is highly dangerous and may cause death.
- Do not leave tank unattended.
- Do not open valve without regulator attached.
- Do not store tank in areas over 125° F.
- Do not allow unauthorized or untrained individuals to operate tank.
DO the following:
- Store tank in well-ventilated area.
- Secure the tank to prevent falling.
- Close tank when not in use.
- Keep cylinder away from children.
- Use a cylinder cart to move the tank.
- Replace cap before transporting cylinder.
